WEDDING FILMS
-
Why should we get a wedding film made?Photographs are amazing, you should absolutely get a photographer, but a photo won’t translate how a dress moves, or capture the heartfelt emotion behind the words during a speech. A film will transport you back to your wedding in a different way. A cliche but true; the day will go by in the blink of an eye and you won’t remember everything. Knowing the day is being filmed takes that pressure off of you, knowing you can relive it forever! Essentially, you won’t regret having a film of your day, but you might regret not.
-
What is a highlights film? Our highlights films present all the very best bits of your day, focusing on elements of the ceremony, speeches and first dance, but also including those natural quieter moments in-between. It is set to licensed instrumental music and edited in a non-linear format to create a beautiful, cinematic and highly personal film. We also film the ceremony and speeches in full from start to finish which can be delivered as their own stand alone films for you.
-
Where are you based? We are based in Brighton on the Sussex Coast, and we cover all areas within a 50 mile radius of Brighton without additional cost . We are very happy to travel further afield and love visiting new places so let us know your plans, even if it's up a mountain or on a remote island!
-
How much do you cost?As every wedding is unique, we provide a bespoke quote based on your day and how much you want as a keepsake. To give you a flat rate cost might overcharge you!
-
Can we meet up before the wedding? If you are based in or near Brighton then we can meet up and talk about the day over coffee or something stronger, but if you are further away or the schedules don’t allow, then a zoom or an old fashioned phone conversation will do the trick too. Regardless of how, we feel it’s important just to get a sense of each other before the day - we don’t want you to feel like we are strangers at your wedding!
-
What kit do you use?We use the latest Sony mirrorless cameras which produce a beautiful cinematic image in 4K, but are also really small and help us to be nimble and discreet. A recent IMAX screened blockbuster was filmed on the same cameras we use! For sound we use discreet lavalier microphones that record internally and don’t interfere with a venues' wireless PA system. We like to put mics on every person speaking, but always respect if someone would rather not wear one.
-
Can’t we just have one of you to film our wedding to keep costs down?We very much come as a pair and bring different skills to the day. Emma is great at seeking out smaller, beautiful moments, whilst Simon likes to get that big sweeping shot of the party. Filming solo is great in theory, but it ends up with missed opportunities and a film not quite as special as it could be, and we only get one go at it!
-
Will you go abroad?Of course and yes please! We love shooting in other countries!
-
How do we book? Please do get in touch using the contact page letting us know the key details of your wedding. We will respond with our availability, a personalised quote and more information. When you're happy to book we will request a 20% booking fee to secure the date and once received with signed contracts then we're all yours!
-
Do we pay for your accommodation/travel?Within 50 miles of Brighton our travel will be included. For any venues outside of this travel and accommodation if necessary will be discussed upon enquiry.
-
Who will be there? We work very much as a pair, so both Emma and Simon will be in attendance to make the most of our time with you and your guests and get the very best of your day filmed.
-
Do you film bride and groom prep on the day?We do indeed. The benefit of two of us is we can be with both bride and groom before the ceremony rather than rushing between the two. Of course if you would prefer no prep or just one side be captured this is absolutely your choice.
-
How long will you be there?Unlike other similar suppliers who offer 8/9 hours as standard before adding on sneaky overtime fees, we do not put a ticking clock on our time with you. Weddings can and often will run over, schedules can change on the day and we believe flexibility from our end is important. We would hate to put any undue stress on a couple worrying about their filmmakers missing the first dance because the speeches have gone on longer than expected for instance. As we get closer to the date we will be in touch to finalise details and organise our arrival time with you for your morning prep or for the ceremony, and then we usually stay about half an hour to an hour after the first dance to capture some party time. If you have additional moments happening later that you wish to have captured let us know at this time. We will always stay for fun additional, meaningful moments you've planned as long as we're prepared!
-
What will you ask us to do on the day?We blend into your day without asking anything of you, nothing about filming your wedding should feel like a performance for us. Your photographer will likely grab you at a couple of moments throughout the day for some couple’s photographs and we would capture some lovely footage of you at this time too.
-
Do you need feeding? As we are likely to be with you from morning preparations up until the late evening we would be very grateful for a hot meal please. Usually this is arranged for during the wedding breakfast where typically we would not be filming anyway.
-
How will you dress? We like to dress smart but comfortable so we can blend in with your guests, but also move quickly if we need to!
-
Do you have a drone? We do! And weather permitting we will certainly use it for a (literally) different perspective of your day. Your venue will likely have a drone policy and request some information from us, and we will happily discuss with them and provide paperwork and insurance details.
-
What happens in bad weather?Your day is going to be brilliant regardless of weather, and possibly even more memorable for something unexpected! From our perspective nothing really changes, it's still about embracing the day whatever form it takes and leaning into its uniqueness.
-
How long will my film be?We use the key moments of your day to craft a narrative and there are so many differing, unique elements to every wedding that it makes it impossible to determine exactly how long your film should be. We've found that to present the very best of your wedding day a highlights film can be anywhere between 6 and 12 minutes. Length of film does not equate to time taken to create it - often a shorter edit is harder to craft!
-
What will I receive and when?We think it's important for you to have something to see as close to your wedding day as possible. We remember from our own wedding we were on such a high during the weeks after it and were desperate to see something professional from our day. We waited three months which is often commonplace in the industry for a full edit but we want to give you something tangible to enjoy early on. You will receive a 30-60 second teaser trailer within one week of your wedding day via an online link. You will receive a highlights film anywhere between 6-12 minutes edited to fully licensed instrumental music within one month of your wedding date. You will also receive your ceremony and speeches as fully edited separate films.
-
Can you use our favourite songs in the edit?Sadly not, the licensing costs of popular and chart music are astronomical! We source high quality, appropriate and beautiful royalty free music that is fully licensed for use.
-
Can I have the raw footage? We shoot in a format that intentionally looks very grey and flat at first, and the built in sound is only used for reference. Whilst you are welcome to the raw footage for an additional fee, it won't resemble anything from your edited film and it's likely we will have used all of your best bits in your film anyway!
